View of Loch Obbe from Bay Window of Tigh Bhorroraidh
There are lots of things to see around Harris, not least are the wonderful views, some of which are from the property itself. Wildlife abounds on the tidal and freshwater lochs. If you take the time you can see the resident Gray Herons patrolling the shores of the Obbe looking for crabs, molluscs and small fish, watch Cormorants dive for the slightly larger fish in the loch and occasionally you will catch sight of the regular visitors, like the King Eider Ducks, Sea Otters, Seals and Mergansers. On the fresh water lochs, see Merlin hawks wheel over the shores going to and from their hunting grounds, while migrating whooper swans glide majestically around the loch feeding and grooming before heading further north to their summer haunts in Iceland and Greenland. In season the lochs fill up with Salmon and Sea Trout for the Anglers among you, watch and you will see them leaping around the lochs and the Millpool by An Clachan. |
